Progress of an Arch

A commission for an iron grille to fit in an archway.  The grille sits on top of an existing iron railing.
Above is our design for the work.

A detail of the existing railing.
The beginning of fabrication.  All material had to be hammered to match surface texture of the original railing.
The arch underway, making shapes fit with the right rhythm.
The arch has a set of doors in the middle.
A detail of the finished work - all hammered and with bands, wrapping joints together.
The work installed! Shown with the original rail underneath. Our work primed only -- we hope to get a photo in the future after the customer paints the finish coat.

A new design for a one post rail

Our original railing had multiple posts for a long staircase.  A new customer wanted the spiral vine design but just one post for 3 steps.
The new design as a one post rail -- underway in the shop.  Steel thickness in all parts of the design had to increase to create maximum stability for a single post.
The new design completed -- and installed!
